Woman tries to grab girl, 8, off street and convince two other kids to get into car

A woman tried to grab an eight-year-old girl off the street in broad daylight and convince two other children to get into her car.

Police believe the two 'suspicious' incidents in Maidenhead yesterday are connected, and have launched an appeal to find the woman.

The first took place between 3.30pm and 4pm in St Adrian’s Close.

An eight-year-old girl was approached by a woman who grabbed her before letting go.

The woman then left the scene.

The second took place at about 3.30pm in Wessex Way.

A boy and a girl, aged 14 and seven, were approached by a woman in a car.

She offered them a lift, and then when they refused, she tried to persuade them.

She then drove away after the boy and girl continued to refuse.

A Thames Valley Police spokesman said: "TVP  is aware of two suspicious incidents, which occurred today in Maidenhead.

"It is believed that the incidents are linked. The woman involved is white, aged in her forties and with a British accent.

"She is described as being tall with a slim build and grey hair.

"In the second incident, she was driving a dark silver or grey Vauxhall Zafira.

"Anyone with any information relating to these incidents is asked to call Thames Valley Police on 101, quoting reference number 860 (3/4)."
