A woman is accused of trying to abduct a four-year-old girl from her mum in broad daylight as the pair walked along a street.
The woman allegedly attempted to snatch the child in Tividale, Sandwell, just before 1pm on September 20, according to West Midlands Police.
The mother managed to keep a "tight grip" on her daughter and both were able to walk away unharmed, the force added.
No-one has been arrested.
More than three months on, detectives have released two CCTV images of a woman they want to speak to in connection with the alleged incident, Birmingham Live reports.
Police said officers have carried out local checks and reviewed CCTV, but they have been unable to trace the woman in the images.
A spokesperson for the force said: "Officers investigating a suspected attempted abduction on Trafalgar Road, on Friday 20 September, have released the image of a woman they want to speak to.
"Shortly before 1pm, a woman was walking with her four-year-old daughter, when it is alleged another woman attempted to grab the child.
"Fortunately the mother held a tight grip on the girl and was able to walk away and the child was uninjured.
"Local checks have been conducted and CCTV has been reviewed, but officers are now asking for your help to trace this woman.
