Parents and pupils from a South Dublin school were left shocked and frightened when a woman allegedly tried to lure a schoolgirl into her car.
The young girl is a pupil at Teresian School on the Stillorgan Road but the incident did not take place "near or around the vicinity of the school" according to a spokeswoman for the school.
The incident took place in the area of Donnybrook "outside of school hours while the pupil was in the supervision of a family member".

The girl's father took to social media to warn other parents to keep their children close to them when walking home from school.
The woman reportedly tried to get the girl to enter the car by offering her sweets.
In the post, he said "apparently there was another adult crouched in the back.
"Fortunately my mother-in-law stopped it before anything serious happened. Now might be a good time to reinforce stranger danger."

The young girl was walking a couple of paces behind her grandmother on Woodbine Road at the time of the incident.
The school spokeswoman said that it's vital for parents to be vigilant of their children at all times.
"It just goes to show that minders need to be close to the child at all times. "

"The parents alerted the principal once they heard about the incident and the principal subsequently sent out a warning to every other parent in the school and also reported it to the gardai."

She concluded: "It's a dangerous incident and it was important to alert others immediately."
Gardai said they are currently investigating the "alleged suspicious approach" which took place on April 1.
