Woman treated for facial injuries following Cooma break-in

A woman has been treated for facial injures after an aggravated break-in in NSW's south overnight.

Police later arrested a 47-year-old man at a service station nearby the Cooma home.

The man allegedly forced entry into the property before stealing cash and fleeing at about 10pm.

The 48-year-old woman also suffered a fractured hand after refusing to hand over money to the assailant.

She was treated by paramedics and then taken to Cooma Hospital in a stable condition.

The man was alleged to have attempted to assault a police officer during the arrest at about 11.20pm. He was also allegedly found in possession of a small amount of cannabis.

The man was taken to Cooma Police Station and charged with the crimes.

He was refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court on Saturday.
