Woman trapped in Nissan Qashqai after it overturns in Blackley following road incident

A woman is trapped inside a car after it flipped onto its roof in north Manchester.

Emergency services were called to reports of a car overturning on Old Market Street, in Blackley, at 7.40am this morning.

Fire crews are currently working to rescue the woman from the black Nissan Qashqai.

A police spokeswoman said she is conscious and breathing.

Another vehicle, a black Lexus, was also involved in the incident.

Old Market Street is closed in both directions, from Middleton Old Road to the Golden Lion Pub.

The 118 Stagecoach bus service and 53 Go North West service are on diversion as a result.

No arrests have been made.

A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police said: "We got a call at 7.40am to reports of a car on its roof on Old Market Street in Blackley.

"It is a Nissan Qashqai in black.

"There is a woman in the car. She appears to be conscious and breathing.

"The fire service are working to get her out at the moment.

"The other car involved is a black Lexus."
