A woman has been rescued after spending the entire weekend trapped in her billionaire employer’s lift.

Marites Fortaliza was stuck for three days in the elevator of a townhouse owned by investment banker in Manhattan.

The 53-year-old became trapped on Friday evening and was not freed by emergency services until Monday morning.

She was rescued after authorities responded to a 911 call from the home, near Central Park, on Monday.

The woman, a housekeeping employee, was rushed to hospital after being freed by firefighters.

Her family said in statement that she was recovering in hospital after suffering dehydration.

The townhouse is owned by her employer, billionaire investment banker Warren Stephens.

He is president and CEO of Stephens Inc, an investment bank based in Little Rock, Arkansas.

The cause of the incident is under investigation.
