Woman tragically dies on night out with friends after having just two drinks

A woman tragically died after collapsing in the toilet while on a night out with friends after just two drinks.

Amanda Peake, who was in her early 30, was found unresponsive in KG Sports Bar in Barnsley on September 18 last year. Paramedics attempted to revive her at the scene before she was rushed to hospital, but she sadly passed away a short time later.

An inquest into Amanda's death heard that she had been living with a heart condition and "could have passed away at any time". The illness - known as acute myocardial ischemia - reduces the heart’s ability to pump blood.

She also suffered from heart disease, Hull Live reports.

A small amount of cocaine was also found in Amanda's system, however Assistant Coroner Tanyka Rawden said while the drug may have contributed to her death, it did not cause it.

She stated: "It feels wrong to say that this was a drug-related death, because also, as the pathologist tells me, effectively Amanda could have passed away at any time, particularly if she was under any physical stress.

"So, although it has contributed to her death, the cocaine use hasn't directly caused her death."
