A woman who was diagnosed with stage two kidney disease saw her "eyes fill with blood" and face swell before she "cured herself".
Around eight years ago, Tracy McMahon was diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome brought on by "emotional stress", in which she was told she would need to be on long-term steroids and potentially chemotherapy and dialysis. But worried she would leave her kids behind, she decided to "cure it herself".
Already being an integrated health specialist and owning her own holistic business Buddha Therapies working with the the, mind, body and spirit, Tracy took more time off work, carried out holistic therapies on herself and changed to an organic diet. The Prescot mum said: "I looked after myself, did more treatments and got rid of chemicals.

"Ten months later I went for a check and everything was perfect. Touch wood I've been great since. I'm now 43 and just had a baby eight weeks ago. I use myself as an example that holistic well-being can help you spiritually, physically and mentally."
As Tracy's holistic business is set to celebrate 11 years, she also teaches a variety of courses including helping fertility, and sells her own products. Using an array of traditional East Asian and western therapies, such as acupuncture and reiki, for numerous different symptoms and conditions, Tracy said she can help with a variety of problems and conditions.

She said: "One of my clients had Raynaud's, lupus, her hair fell out and she was seven stone, she made a massive transformation, her hair grew back, nails and this is called Korean hand therapy with moxa. It tonifies the blood [a theaputic treatment], and after 15-minutes of treatment the colour came back to her fingers."
Having won and been shortlisted for an array of awards, including the Guild of Excellence 2022, the 43-year-old told the ECHO: "When I was sick I had to change my lifestyle, I understand the importance of less chemicals.
"People nowadays have everything in excess and don't realise that turns into disease. Prevention is better than cure. I was overworking and over-studying and was having personal issues as well but I was told if I didn't take 12-months worth of steroids, which could cause colon cancer, I'd need chemotherapy.
"At Buddha Therapies, we are a holistic health clinic with preventative medicine. Some people come in with massive health issues like cancer, others just want relaxation. I also teach people how to look after themselves. I take a holistic approach to everything I do."

After working in retail when she left school, things began to "go wrong" and when Tracy became pregnant she took as a "sign to get out" of that job sector. Eventually realising she wanted to go into holistic well-being, she began her journey and now helps hundreds of people across the region.
She added: "I realised how important therapies are to people. I helped a woman who was 40 get pregnant and from there it stemmed. A lot of women write themselves off at 35, when people come on a fertility journey with us I tell them to let go of the logic. I didn't plan to have my little boy but it was meant to happen.
"Once you understand how the body works and how you can change your lifestyle, that's when things slot into place. There is a stigma over getting pregnant at 40, but I've proved it can happen."
Through her business, Tracy also helps people of all ages with their mental health and dealing with the "stresses of life". She told the ECHO: "If you have the knowledge you can choose for yourself.
"I used to look like I'd been punched in the face. Now, I want people to be more aware of their health and chose right and what suits you. Its awareness and people are now understanding foods and chemicals better."
