A 23-year-old woman will stand trial accused of murdering her father. (AAP)

A woman is expected to face a trial in 2022 after pleading not guilty to the stabbing murder of her father.

Maddison Hickson, 23, is charged with murdering Michael Carroll at Tenambit in the NSW Hunter region on January 16, 2021.

Emergency services were called to the Ronald Street home about 7.20pm, where they found the 51-year-old suffering stab wounds to his stomach.

He died at the scene.

Hickson appeared in the NSW Supreme Court on Friday, via video-link from her lawyer's office, and pleaded not guilty to murder.

Justice Robert Allan Hulme delayed setting the trial date until the parties get back to him about certain administrative matters.
