Woman thrown from Waltzer ride after standing up at Blackpool's South Pier, police believe

A woman was thrown from the Waltzers on Blackpool's South Pier after police believe she stood up during the ride.

The woman was taken to hospital after she landed on the floor, Lancashire Live reports.

She suffered minor injuries.

Lancashire Police were called to the amusement area at around 6.50pm on Tuesday evening, after receiving reports of a woman being 'thrown from a ride.'

Eyewitnesses reported seeing a large police presence at the pier, soon after the incident happened.

Five officers were sent to the scene.

But police have since confirmed that the incident was not as serious as initially suspected.

Paramedics also raced to the scene.

Force Incident Manager at Lancashire Police, Conrad Tapp, said: "This was luckily a less serious incident than initially suspected.

"A female had been thrown from the ride and she landed on the floor.

"She was taken to hospital but she was a walking wounded and sustained only minor injuries.

"We believe she had stood up on the Waltzer ride, causing her to then be thrown from the ride.

"Five officers attended."
