Woman threatened with knife as armed robbers raid home and attempt to steal her jewellery

Police have launched an investigation after a woman was threatened with a knife during a robbery in Trafford.

Officers were called to Stanley Mount in Sale at 12.15pm on Wednesday August 26, to reports that two men had entered the woman's property.

She was threatened with a knife whilst the robbers demanded jewellery, before fleeing on foot in the direction of Walton Park, police say.

The woman was not seriously injured during the raid, and is being supported by specially trained officers.

One of the offenders is described as being white and wearing dark coloured clothes.

The second man was also thought to be wearing dark coloured clothes and possibly carrying a red bag.

No arrests have been made.

Detective Sergeant Phil Bainbridge, of GMP’s Trafford district, said: "This was a shocking incident that has, understandably, left the victim shaken. Thankfully, she was not seriously injured. We are doing everything we can to support her.

"We understand that incidents like this cause concern within communities but there are police officers in the area and I encourage anyone who is worried to approach them.

"Enquires are well underway but I would like to use this opportunity to appeal to anyone with information to pass it on without delay. Were you in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious? Particularly two males loitering?"

Anyone with information should contact police on 0161 856 7544 quoting 1268 of 26/08/2020 or the independent charity - Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
