The armed man struck at the William Hill bookmakers in Norris Green .

But the man fled empty handed during his bungled raid.

The man behind the appalling scenes is described as a white male, in his late 40s with dark hair, he was wearing a black cap, army style jacket and dark jeans.

Police said nobody was injured during the incident but the female staff member was left shaken by her ordeal.

Inspector George Phillips said: “I would appeal for anyone who was in the vicinity of Broad Lane either before or after the robbery, to contact us.

“Similarly I would ask anyone who was driving in the area who may have captured something on dash cam footage to get in touch."

He added: “Thankfully nobody was hurt but this was a shocking incident to have happened. I would appeal to the public to come forward with any information they have so that we can find the people responsible and bring them to justice.”
