Woman threatened at knife point while she walked her dog along the Taff Trail

A woman walking her dog alone along the Taff Trail was threatened at knifepoint in an attempted robbery.

The incident happened at around 9.40pm on December 29 while the woman was walking her dog along the Taff Trail near Afon Taf High School in Troedyrhiw , Merthyr Tydfil .

South Wales Police said the woman was approached by a man who pointed what was thought to be a knife at her before demanding she handed over "whatever she was carrying".

The man was chased away by the woman's dog and he fled the scene empty-handed.

Police are now appealing for a man spotted in the area or any other witness to come forward.

A spokesman for the force said: "It is known there was another man in the area – officers believe he may have seen somebody acting suspiciously and are urging him to make contact."
