Woman terrified after finding man standing outside her home during the night

A woman was terrified after coming downstairs in the middle of the night to find a hooded man standing in her front garden.

The 55-year-old had got up around 1.30am yesterday morning for a glass of water when she spotted the suspicious-looking man through the window of her home in Castle Crescent, Bishopton.

He is described as being 6ft, of slim build, wearing a grey hooded top and grey jogging bottoms.

He also had a scarf covering his face.

The homeowner challenged the man who then fled from the area.

Police in Paisley are now appealing for witnesses to come forward following the "distressing incident".

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "While it does not appear anything has been taken from the property, we are still keen to trace this person to find out why has was at the property during the early hours of the morning.

"This was an extremely distressing incident for the homeowner.

"We would ask anyone who may have seen or heard anything in the surrounding area during this time to please get in touch to assist us with our enquiries."

This comes just days after officers in Paisley released an appeal following a separate incident involving a man loitering around other properties in the Ralston area of Paisley.

The man was spotted hanging about within the grounds of a number of properties on Wednesday night.

Officers in Paisley are keen to trace the man to determine what he was doing in the area and have released CCTV images of him at the door of a property.

He can be seen wearing dark jeans and a dark jacket with a grey coloured hooded top underneath, with white trainers and a black backpack.

He was also spotted riding a motorbike in the area

Anyone with information on either incident is being asked to contact police on 101, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
