Woman taken to hospital with head injury following crash outside Stockport Grammar School

A pedestrian was taken to hospital after she hit by a car on one of Stockport's main roads.

The woman, aged in her 40s, was involved in an incident on the A6 Buxton Road near Stockport Grammar School on Tuesday afternoon (May 25).

Police and paramedics were called to the scene and the woman was taken to hospital.

She suffered a head injury, although her condition is not thought to be serious.

According to Greater Manchester Police, officers spoke top the driver at the scene.

The incident caused delays to traffic although the road was not closed.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "Police were called at around 3.50pm to a report of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Buxton Road, Stockport.

"The pedestrian - a woman - is being treated for her injuries which aren’t believed to be serious.

"The driver remained at the scene and is assisting with enquiries."

A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service said: "An ambulance and response vehicle went to the scene of a road traffic collision on Buxton Road, Stockport, involving a car and a pedestrian, following a 999 call at 15.45.

"We have taken a woman in her 40s to hospital with a head injury."
