Woman taken to hospital with acid burns after man squirts liquid from car in Weston

A woman needed hospital treatment for an acid burn after a driver squirted an unknown liquid at her from his car.

The victim, in her 20s, was in Herluin Way, Weston-super-Mare at around 4.45pm on March 21 when a car pulled up alongside her and her partner. An unknown man then squirted the liquid at her from the rear window of a white car.

The woman required medical treatment. Liquid landed on her hand, causing her pain. Doctors later said she had sustained an acid burn.

The unknown man is described as white and was wearing orange overalls. Police say extensive investigations are being carried out using CCTV footage.

The attack happened at a crossing near Asda and McDonald's. The white car involved was described as a hatchback, which had some damage from a previous incident.

In a tweet, Avon and Somerset Police said: “Did you see a man, described as white and wearing orange overalls, assault a woman in Weston-super-Mare? He squirted an unknown liquid at her from a white car in Herluin Way at 4.45pm on Mon 21 March.”
