Woman taken to hospital following three-car smash in Stockport

A woman has been taken to hospital following a three car smash in Stockport.

Emergency service were called to reports of a collision on Marple Road, in Offerton, just before 9am.

A number of ambulance vehicles, as well as an air ambulance, attended the scene.

Paramedics treated a woman, aged in her mid 60s, at the scene.

She was then taken by road ambulance to hospital.

A spokeswoman for the North West Ambulance Service said the woman is not thought to be seriously injured.

Marple Road was shut in both directions, between Offerton Road and Shearwater Road.

The road has since re-opened.

A spokeswoman for NWAS said: "We got the call at 8.59am to Marple Road in Offerton.

"It is reports of a three vehicle road traffic collision. We have currently got an ambulance and a rapid response vehicle on the scene, as well as a community paramedic. The air ambulance is also in attendance.

"One rapid response vehicle is still there. We have taken a patient to hospital by road ambulance."
