Woman taken to hospital following rush hour crash in Middleton

A woman was taken to hospital after a crash which closed one of Middleton's busiest roads during rush hour.

The smash happened shortly before 7am this morning (Wednesday) on Greengate.

Two cars were involved in a collision, near the junction with Greenside Way.

Police, paramedics and fire crews were among those who responded.

GMP have confirmed one woman was injured and was taken to hospital.

Her injuries are not believed to be serious.

The road was closed for over two and a half hours whilst emergency services dealt with the aftermath with traffic chiefs advising people to avoid the area before it eventually re-opened at around 10am.

A spokeswoman for GMP said: "We were called just after 6.50am this morning to reports of a collision.

"One vehicle is a Golf. Paramedics are at the scene and a woman was taken to hospital.

"She is not thought to be seriously injured.

"The road was closed but has been re-opened now."
