Woman taken to hospital following horror three-vehicle collision on A69 near Haydon Bridge

A woman has been taken to hospital following a horrific three-vehicle collision in Northumberland.

Emergency crews were in attendance following reports of a crash on the A69 near Haydon Bridge from approximately 12pm today (August 12). Three vehicles were found to have collided at the scene.

The collision led to the closure of the A69 while the vehicle was uplifted, causing some disruption on roads in the vicinity.

Two ambulances were dispatched to the scene and a woman was found to be in need of further medical assistance and was taken to hospital to be checked over.

A spokeswoman for North East Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 11.57 to a five vehicle road traffic collision on the A69 at Haydon Bridge.

"We dispatched two double crewed ambulances and one patient was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary."

The crash happened between Haydon Bridge and Hexham (Google Maps)

A Northumbria Police spokesperson added: "Shortly before 12pm today (Friday), we received a report of a three vehicle collision on the A69 near Haydon Bridge.

"Emergency services attended the scene and a female was taken to hospital to be checked over.

“The road was closed while a vehicle awaited uplift but re-opened at about 2.15pm.”
