A woman has been taken to hospital following a crash on the M6.
The collision took place shortly after 12:30pm today (August 16) between junction 25 for Wigan and junction 26 for Orrell Interchange.
Transport for Greater Manchester tweeted that one lane had been closed due to the incident with congestion building up to junction 22 for Winwick.

The lane was closed until around 12:50pm.
A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service told the Manchester Evening News that they attended the scene and took a woman to hospital.
No additional information on her condition was made available.
The collision followed an earlier crash on the M6 this morning.
Just before 7am, a blue Renault Megane and a HGV collided on the southbound carriageway between junction 19 for Knutsford and junction 18 for Middlewich.
Three men were taken to hospital following the incident.
