Woman taken to hospital and horse dies following 'sad' incident in the Rhondda

A woman was taken to hospital and a horse died following an incident in the Rhondda Fawr Valley on Saturday afternoon.

Emergency services were at the scene of the incident on Harcombe Road in Llwynypia, Tonypandy, at around 5pm on August 8.

A spokesman for South Wales Police in Rhondda Cynon Taff described the incident – which involved a horse and rider – as “serious”.

Motorists were asked to avoid the area while the casualty was looked after and obstructions were cleared.

An hour later, the force spokesman confirmed the woman had been taken to hospital and the horse had died. The road was cleared around 6pm.

He added: “The public are thanked for their patience and cooperation as we and our partners dealt with this sad incident.”
