A woman has been taken to hospital after police and the ambulance service were called to the Arndale car park this afternoon.

Witnesses reported a number of emergency services at the scene at around 1.50pm.

One shared a video with the Manchester Evening News and said: "Something happening at the Arndale again.

"Police cordoned off High Street and are running around car park looking for something. All food court blinds now being drawn"

Transport for Greater Manchester confirmed High Street was closed due to an ongoing 'police incident'.

It reopened a short time ago.

Greater Manchester Police said: "Shortly before 1.50pm today (25 August 2020) officers were called to reports of concerns for the welfare of a woman at the Arndale car park.

"Emergency services attended and the woman was taken to hospital."
