Woman taken to hospital after police block entrance to M53

A woman was taken to hospital after police blocked of an entrance to the M53.

On Monday, officers were called to a concern of welfare of a woman on a bridge of junction 2 of the motorway at 3.33pm.

Images showed two police vehicles blocking the entrance near Moreton Spur at around 4pm.

Drivers reported being diverted away from the scene and had to take a longer route.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police confirmed today that a woman was taken to hospital after patrols attended the incident.

They said: "It was concern for the welfare of a female on a bridge at J2.

"Patrols attended and the woman was taken to hospital."

A spokesperson for National Highways confirmed the incident concluded at 3.47pm and the entrance to the motorway was reopened.

They said: "It was a police-led matter at 3.33pm, which concluded at 3.47pm."
