Woman taken to hospital after police and firefighters descend on Carmarthen street

A woman has been taken to hospital after an incident which saw several police vehicles and a fire crew descend on a Carmarthen street.

Officers in at least five police cars and vans were called to Glannant Road, on the outskirts of the town centre, shortly before 7pm on Tuesday night (April 21).

They were responding to concern raised for a woman’s welfare, who was on the roof of a property on the street.

The fire service also attended and were involved in getting the woman down safely.

A spokesman for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: "We received a call at 6.52pm on Tuesday regarding an incident in Glannant Road in carmarthen.

"Police were already in attendance when our crew from Carmarthen arrived at the scene.

"We used a short extension ladder and a female was lowered down from the roof."

A spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “We were called to Glannant Road in Carmarthen following a report of concern for the welfare of a woman who was on a roof, who was then brought to safety.”

The emergency services left the scene shortly before 8pm, and police later confirmed that the woman was taken to hospital after she was helped down from the roof of the property.
