Woman taken to hospital after fire breaks out at north Manchester home

A woman has been taken to hospital after a fire broke out in the bedroom of a house in north Manchester.

Five fire engines were called to St Mary's Road, in Moston, at around 6.45am on Thursday.

A woman was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

She was then taken to hospital by the ambulance service.

Fire crews used breathing apparatus, two hose reels and a jet to tackle the blaze on the first floor of the property.

The fire is now under control, with two fire engines remaining at the scene.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called just before 6.45am to St Mary's Road, Moston.

"Five fire engines attender a fire involving a bedroom on the first floor.

"Crews used four breathing apparatus, two hose reels and a jet to bring the fire under control.

"A woman was treated for smoke inhalation and taken to hospital."
