Woman taken to hospital after 'falling' from the Tyne Bridge

A woman has been taken to hospital with 'suspected leg and arm injuries' after 'falling' from the Tyne Bridge.

Emergency services were called to reports of concern for a woman on the Tyne Bridge at around 12.10pm on Wednesday. police say it was reported that the woman was on the wrong side of the railings and had fallen.

Northumbria Police, North East Ambulance Service and Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service all attended the scene.

The woman was taken to hospital with 'suspected injuries to her arms and legs.'

A spokeswoman for Northumbrian Police said: "Shortly before 12.10pm today (Wednesday), we received a report of a concern for a woman on the Tyne Bridge.

"It was reported she was on the wrong side of the railings and had fallen into the water below.

"Emergency services attended and the woman has been taken to hospital with suspected injuries to her arms and legs."
