Woman taken to hospital after emergency services descend on south side street

A woman was taken taken to hospital after emergency services descended on a south side street last night.

Fire crews, police and ambulance services were seen by White Cart Water on Carmichael Place in Battlefield shortly before 9pm last night.

Police have subsequently confirmed a 40-year-old woman was taken to the city's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital 'for assessment' after officers were alerted to concerns for a person.

An eyewitness last night told Glasgow Live: "I was out for my walk and was hoping to go along by the water, but as I came up the streets, saw two fire engines driving down towards the end.

"When I got there and turned the corner, there was also a police car and two smaller separate fire vehicles. There must have been at least eight firemen looking in the water"

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report of concern for a person on Carmichael Place, Glasgow, around 8.40pm on Friday, 8 May, 2020.

"A 40-year-old woman was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for assessment."
