Woman taken to hospital after crash near bingo hall

An elderly woman was injured after being hit by a car on a busy city road.

Emergency services were called to the crash on East Prescot Road at 9.15pm on Friday night.

The incident happened close to the Mecca Bingo site.

The woman was taken to hospital with leg injuries after being hit by a black Ford Mondeo.

The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and helped police with their inquiries.

The incident was one of two crashes on Friday night that led to women being taken to hospital.

A woman in her 60s suffered cuts to her leg after being hit by a police car on Walton Lane.

She is now said to be in a stable condition.

That crash happened around 10.20pm and led to the city-bound lane being closed to traffic.
