Woman taken to hospital after collision on the A1 near Alnwick where car overturned

A woman has been taken to hospital following a collision on the A1.

Emergency services were called to the scene near Alnwick following the collision involving a van and a car on Tuesday afternoon.

Pictures taken at the scene show a car on its roof.

Paramedics attended and treated a woman at the scene before taking her to hospital in Cramlington.

Another driver was also treated at the scene.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: “At 3.30pm today (Tuesday) we received a report of a two vehicle collision near the Charlton Mires, Alnwick.

“Emergency services attended and both drivers were treated at the scene.”

A spokesman for the North East Ambulance Service added: "We were called at 3.27pm this afternoon.

"Two vehicles had been involved in a collision. One was a van and one was a car which was on its roof.

"We dispatched two ambulances and treated a woman with head, neck and back pain before taking her to Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital."
