Woman taken to hospital after car flips onto its roof in Northumberland village

A woman was rescued from an overturned car after her vehicle flipped onto its roof on a village road.

Emergency services were called to the one-vehicle crash on the A1147 at Bomarsund village near Bedlington just after 12pm on Sunday.

Three fire engines and a Fire Rescue Unit were sent to the scene from Pegswood and West Hartford stations.

Fire crews then helped to safely remove the woman from the car and she was handed over to paramedics for treatment.

Northumbria Police said the woman was taken to hospital but did not appear to have life-threatening injuries.

The road, between the A189 Spine Road and Stakeford, was blocked while emergency services were dealing with the collision.

The A1147 road has now reopened to traffic.
