Woman taken to hospital after being pulled from the water in Hebburn

A woman has been taken to hospital after being pulled from the River Tyne.

Northumbria Police have confirmed that the woman was taken to safety after the incident in Hebburn on Monday morning.

At about 11.30am, police received a report of concern for the welfare of a woman who was seen in the River Tyne in Hebburn Riverside Park.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and the woman was safely brought out the water.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At about 11.30am today (Monday) we received a report of concern for the welfare of a woman who was seen in the River Tyne in the Hebburn Riverside Park area.

“Emergency services were deployed to the area and the woman was located and brought out of the water.

"She has since been taken to hospital.”
