Woman taken to hospital after being knocked down by vehicle in Longsight

A woman has been taken to hospital after being hit by a vehicle in Longsight.

Emergency services were called to the incident on Stanley Grove at around 2.30pm this afternoon.

A woman in her sixties was knocked down by a vehicle as she was walking, a North West Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed.

She was treated at the scene for injuries to her head and pelvis.

The woman was then taken to hospital.

In a statement, a NWAS spokesperson said: "We were called to a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle at around 2.30pm on Stanley Grove.

"We treated a female patient in her 60s for injuries to her head and pelvic area.

"She was taken to hospital from the scene."

In a tweet, Transport for Greater Manchester confirmed that Stockport Road had been closed in both directions.

Buses are being diverted away from the area and drivers are being urged to find a different route.

According to Traffic service Inrix, Stockport Road remains closed between Dickenson Road and Kirkmanshulme Lane.

The M.E.N has contacted Greater Manchester Police for a comment.
