Woman taken to hospital after being hit by car in Stockport

A woman has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car in Stockport.

Emergency services were called to the crash on Garners Lane, in the Adswood area of the borough, at around 12pm today (Tuesday).

Police said the woman - a pedestrian - was hit by a car and taken to hospital.

Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Officers closed off Garners Lane in both directions after the crash.

It was shut between Eccleston Close and Oban Crescent for around 30 minutes.

The road has since been reopened.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "Officers were called at about 12pm on Tuesday 20 April 2021 to reports of a collision between a woman and a car on Garners Lane, Stockport.

"A female pedestrian has been taken to hospital by ambulance where her injuries are not thought to be life threatening."

A spokesperson for the North West Ambulance Service said: "We received a 999 call at 12pm reporting a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Garners Lane, Stockport.

"We have attended with an ambulance, rapid response vehicle and an advanced paramedic.

We have taken a woman to hospital."
