Woman taken to hospital after being attacked outside a pub

Police are investigating after a woman was attacked outside a village pub in Tameside.

Officers were called to The New Inn, on Market Street in the Hollingworth, just before midnight on Saturday to reports of a disturbance.

A 33-year-old woman is understood to have been assaulted outside the premises and was taken to hospital.

Her injuries are not thought to be serious.

A spokesman for GMP said enquiries were now ongoing to find the person responsible.

They said: "We were called at 11.50pm to The New Inn pub on Market Street in Hollingworth in relation to a disturbance.

"A 33-year-old woman was found to have received injuries and was taken to hospital.

"Her injuries are not thought to be serious.

"Enquiries are now ongoing to trace the offender."

Anyone with information of who witnessed the incident is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log number 2767 of March 23. Alternatively, people can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
