Woman taken hospital with serious injuries after crash in Aberdeenshire

A woman has been rushed to hospital after a horror road crash in Aberdeenshire this afternoon.

Cops closed the A950 Longside to Mintlaw in both directions as they dealt with a one-vehicle crash.

The 59-year-old driver was taken by ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where she is currently being treated for serious injuries.

At around 1.30pm this afternoon, officers on patrol came across a white Toyota Yaris that had left the road near to Auchtydonald in Mintlaw.

The road remains closed and Road Policing Officers are currently carrying out enquiries at the scene to establish the circumstances surrounding this crash.

Sergeant Andrew Meikleham of the North East Road Policing Unit said: "Officers are urging anyone who witnessed the white Toyota Yaris being driven in the area, or anyone driving on that road with dash-cam footage to contact us.

"Anyone with information that may assist the ongoing investigation should contact officers through 101 quoting reference number 1465 of February 16."
