Woman swears by teabag tanning trick even though she looks like an 'Oompa Loompa'

Everyone remembers using teabags to dye their history homework in primary school.

But have you ever heard of using teabags to tan your face? Neither had we until we saw Kizzy Demelza demonstrate the hack on her TikTok @__kiz.

In a clip that has since been viewed more than 1.9 million times, she begins by pouring a small amount of boiling water over a teabag, before letting it brew for a few minutes to release the natural dye.

Once it has cooled down, professional dancer Kizzy dips a makeup brush into the tea and applies it to her face in even strokes all over.

She then lets it sit overnight but said it’s the ultimate hack for a bronzed face without the orange palms.

Kizzy from Hull, East Yorks said: "I look like an Oompa Loompa at first but it looks so good after washing off.

“I had heard that this is what women used to do back in the day and during the war times.

“So, I wanted to try it and give it a go for myself.

“I don’t get any funny looks as I do it before bedtime, then wash it off as soon as I wake up the next morning.

“It gives my face that tanned look for the rest of the day.”

A box of 240 PG Tips costs £3.99 in Tesco, meaning the hack costs less than 2p a pop - much cheaper than a holiday to Spain for a real tan.

Kizzy couldn't believe how popular the hack proved to be on TikTok after it received almost 100,000 likes.

"I never realised that the video would blow up," she said.

“I love that others are giving it a go."

She even posted a follow-up video of her face in the morning to prove the hack was legit.

Grateful fake tan fans flocked to the comments to thank Kizzy.

One person said: "Are you kidding me? Why is this such a good idea."

Another viewer was even willing to take the hack one step further and make it a full-body operation.

She quipped: "So, hear me out right. Pack of tea bags in the bath?"
