Woman swears by self-defence expert's advice to say no to a man on the first date

A woman says the "best dating advice she's ever been given" is to say no to a man on the first date.

Mollie Trainor shared the advice, which was once told to her by a professional self-defence expert, on TikTok in a video that has been viewed more than 1.6 million views.

In the clip, Mollie said: "The advice she gave was that whenever you are on a first date with a guy, find a reason at some point during the date to say no.

"It doesn't have to be anything big," she added, "and you don't have to be rude about it."

The reason why? You can tell a lot about a person by how they react to being told no.

She continued: "Her daughter did this once, and didn't like her date's reaction. Later that date, he tried to attack her in the restaurant's bathroom."

Since being posted, the video has racked up more than 510,000 likes and 2,000 comments from people who thanked her for sharing the tip.

One person said: "This is such incredible advice. Also, we tend to agree and be agreeable on the first date has to come across nice."

Another user added: "I did this with my current bf of two years - said no to our first kiss the first time he asked - and he was so understanding. Tells you a lot!"

Whilst a third commented: "Really sad to see that women HAVE to have all these tactics to stay safe... we, dudes, gotta do better."

"So true. I've had some guys try to kiss me on the first date and I said no. They got salty, defensive, &/ or ghosted me after. Dodged bullets lol," added someone else.
