Woman surprises boyfriend with leap day proposal dressed as Dumbarton elephant mascot

A woman has taken an opportunity that only comes around every four years and proposed to her boyfriend this Leap Day - while dressed as Dumbarton FC's mascot.

Jen McKee got down on one knee behind a large banner, while dressed in the elephant costume to propose to her partner Bob Cowie, who of course said yes.

The proposal took place at Dumbarton's stadium The Rock ahead of the team's match against Raith Rovers this afternoon.

And although it may have been a disappointing match result for  Jen and Bob - who are Raith Rovers fans - as their team left with a 1-0 defeat, we're sure the happy couple, who are both call centre workers from Dunfermline, were more than happy with their personal results.

Jen took advantage of the Leap Year loophole that allows women to propose to men, taking on the role that is conventionally expected to be filled by the gents.

However, we think doing it while dressed up as an elephant mascot adds an extra special something, making it a proposal that everyone at today's game won't be forgetting in a hurry.

A huge congrats to Jen and Bob from all of us here at Glasgow Live - and to all the ladies that proposed to their significant others today!
