Woman suffers spinal injuries in mountain bike crash at Awaba

Due to the terrain the Westpac Rescue Helicopter's critical care medical team were winch inserted to the scene.

A WOMAN has suffered spinal injuries after coming off her mountain bike at Awaba on Sunday.

Emergency services were called the the mountain bike track at 3.15pm to a 56-year-old female rider who had crashed.

The patient was stabilised by the medical team before being winch extricated and flown to Royal North Shore Hospital for specialist treatment.

She was in a serious condition. No further details have been released.
