Woman suffers serious head injury after being struck by car in Glasgow

A woman has been rushed to hospital with a serious head injury after being struck by a car in Glasgow city centre.

Emergency services raced to West Nile Street at around 9.10pm on Saturday, October 27 after reports of a pedestrian being hit by a car.

A 31-year-old woman was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary after the incident.

Officers at the scene closed the road to drivers in both directions while police and ambulance crews remained in the area.

Police Scotland have confirmed that a 52-year-old man has been charged in relation to the alleged crash.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “We received a report of a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian around 9.10pm on West Nile Street, Glasgow, on Saturday 26 October 2019.

"A 31-year-old woman was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary with a serious head injury.

"A 52-year-old man has been charged in relation to a road traffic offence and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
