A woman is in hospital with life-changing injuries after a late-night collision in Stockport.
A white Vauxhall Astra was travelling south-east along London Road, in Hazel Grove, when it collided with a pedestrian close to the junction with Queen’s Road, police say.
The pedestrian, a 28-year-old woman, was taken to hospital where she is receiving treatment for life-changing injuries.
The driver, a man aged 20, remained at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
The incident happened at around 9.30pm last night (July 24).
London Road remained closed between Chapel Street and Chester Road into the early hours of Saturday morning.
Several police vehicles and ambulances were at the scene of the collision, which happened close to a local pub.
Photographs show that an evidence tent was erected in the middle of the road and specialist officers could be seen taking photographs and surveying the road.
Police are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to get in touch.
Constable John Harrison-Gough, of Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is also appealing for dash cam footage.
He said: “A young woman remains in hospital with life-changing injuries.
“Our thoughts are with her as she continues her recovery.
“Were you in the area at the time of the collision or did you see the Astra prior to the incident?
“We are confident there will be people with information or dashcam footage that can assist our investigation.
