Woman stunned at having to pay eye-watering price for cup of coffee at Dublin Airport Starbucks

A woman was left stunned after being charged a staggering amount for a cup of coffee after a chain at Dublin Airport charged her a few quid for an item that is often free in their other stores.

Jovi Mullen said the airport Starbucks charged her over €5 for a latte simply because she asked for soy milk.

The lactose-intolerant woman from Waterford paid €5.15 for her MEDIUM-SIZED latte, with additional costs being added on for vanilla syrup (60c) and soy milk (60c).

And they even managed to get her name wrong as well, just to add insult to non-dairy, reports Dublin Live .

Jovi tweeted: "Just paid over €5 for one coffee at @StarbucksIE at @DublinAirport , 60c charge for soy milk! Not my fault I'm allergic to dairy, also hi I'm Jode."

She said none of her local chains in Waterford or in the UK where she works have ever charged her extra - and she doesn't feel she should be paying for having an allergy.

She said: "It's my usual order. I am [lactose intolerant] so I always have to have soy milk.

"It's a shame you have to pay extra for something you have no control over."

A spokesperson for Starbucks told Dublin Live stores may vary in price to reflect "the cost of doing business in that location".

They said: “We are committed to offering great value and service to all customers, whether they are visiting us on the high street, at a drive-thru or at the airport.

"Like many retailers, product prices may vary slightly depending on location, which reflects the cost of doing business in that location.

"We also work with a number of licensed business partners who set their own prices in line with competition law.”
