Woman 'struck with hammer' during aggravated burglary in Co Derry

A woman was reportedly struck with a hammer during a aggravated burglary in Coleraine on Monday night, police say.

Officers said they received a report around 11.15pm on August 31 that two males entered a property in Mossvale Park area of Ballysally.

It was reported the men threatened two women who were inside the property and one woman was struck on the leg with a hammer.

The males also smashed a window and three phones before fleeing.

A police spokesperson said: "Detectives are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area and who may have noticed the males, one of whom is described as wearing a navy Adidas hoody. Police can be contacted by calling 101, quoting reference 2010 31/08/20.

"An online report can be submitted using the non-emergency reporting form via  http://www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/.

"Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."
