Woman struck by vehicle on Whitletts Road

The woman was taken to Ayr Hospital by ambulance. Her age and condition are not known.

Both stretches of Whitletts Road were closed for a time in order for an investigation to take place.

A police spokesperson said: "We received a report of a lady involved in a road traffic accident on Whitletts Road, Ayr, at 2.55pm.

"Police and ambulance attended and the lady was taken to Ayr Hospital. Inquiries are continuing."
