Woman stole keys off 85-year-old in cafe then ransacked her home

A woman targeted an 85-year-old in a cafe and then broke into her house.

Ornela Borisova pleaded guilty to burglary and theft after speaking to a vulnerable woman in a cafe, with the intention of breaking into her home. The 22-year-old, with another unknown woman, spoke to the victim in a café in Great Sankey on Wednesday, February 22.

The victim, from Warrington, said their behaviour seemed unnatural which made her uncomfortable. During the encounter, the two women managed to obtain the victim's address and went on to steal her keys by distracting her.

Borisova, of Clough Lane, Huddersfield, then left the cafe and travelled to the victim’s home, on Loushers Lane. They used the stolen key to get into the home and then ransacked the address whilst the victim was out, stealing a large amount of money along with jewellery and medication.

She appeared at Chester Crown Court, on Thursday, June 8, where she was sentenced to 16 months imprisonment. Following her sentencing, detective sergeant Alexander Reeves said: "I can only imagine how distressing this ordeal has been for the victim in this case, so I hope Borisova’s sentencing today will be able to provide her with some comfort and reassurance.

"I would like to thank our officers here in Warrington and their counterparts in West Yorkshire, whose quick work resulted in Borisova being brought in and sentenced swiftly.

"While Borisova’s sentencing today is a significant step in achieving justice for the victim, our enquiries to identify the second offender remain ongoing, so I would encourage anyone with any information, to get in touch with us."
