A woman targeted a vulnerable man in his own home and stole his money.

On more than one occasion, Laura Gibson stole cash and a bank card from a man at his house on Rodney Street, Birkenhead.

The 35-year-old, of Sidney Street, Birkenhead, was arrested for the three burglaries in October, 2021.

She was later charged and remanded into custody by Merseyside police.

After admitting the crimes in Liverpool Crown Court, Gibson was jailed for 38 months, on Thursday, February 17.

Community Policing Inspector Pete Rexwinkel said: "Burglary is a very personal crime and understandably the victim was left very distressed by these incidents.

"I am pleased that Gibson has received jail time for her offences and I would continue to encourage people to reports any suspicious behaviour or burglary in our communities so we can take action.

"Our commitment and momentum in catching burglary offenders and putting them before the courts will not cease, so keep coming forward and we’ll do the rest. You can provide information directly to officers, or anonymously via Crimestoppers."
