Two cruel criminals targeted an 85-year-old lady as she had a brew in a cafe. The women managed to find out where the pensioner lived and then stole her house keys by distracting her.
The pair then ransacked the victim's home while she was out escaping with cash, jewellery, and medication. One of the women, Ornela Borisova, has been jailed, and police have vowed to catch her unknown accomplice.
Borisova appeared at Chester Crown Court on Thursday June 8 where she was sentenced to 16 months imprisonment. The 22-year-old of Clough Lane, Huddersfield, had earlier pleaded guilty to burglary and theft.
The court heard that on Wednesday February 22 this year Borisova, along with a second woman, deliberately targeted an 85-year-old woman in Warrington, with the intent of breaking into her home.
The victim was approached by the two women in a café in Great Sankey, their behaviour seeming unnatural which made her uncomfortable. The pair managed to obtain the victims address and went on to steal her keys.
The women proceeded to travel to the victim’s home in Warrington and got in using the victim’s stolen keys. The pair then ransacked the property.
Officers quickly identified Borisova as a suspect in the case and she was arrested two days later at an address in Huddersfield by officers from Warrington Proactive CID, with help from West Yorkshire Police.
She was subsequently charged and appeared at Crewe Magistrates Court where she pleaded guilty to burglary and theft from a person. Following her sentencing, Detective Sgt, Alexander Reeves, said: “I can only imagine how distressing this ordeal has been for the victim in this case, so I hope Borisova’s sentencing today will be able to provide her with some comfort and reassurance.
“I would like to thank our officers here in Warrington and their counterparts in West Yorkshire, whose quick work resulted in Borisova being brought in and sentenced swiftly. While Borisova’s sentencing today is a significant step in achieving justice for the victim, our enquiries to identify the second offender remain ongoing, so I would encourage anyone with any information, to get in touch with us.”
