Woman stands in car park below husband's hospital window praying he survives Covid-19

A woman sits in the car park below her husband's hospital room window every night, praying that he survives coronavirus.

Michelle Gutierrez has been visiting her husband David at St. Luke's hospital in Houston, Texas, even though he is in a coma and cannot see or hear her.

She said she stands outside, beneath the window of his hospital room, every day for an hour praying he regains his strength.

The loving wife told CNN she "just wanted to be close to him" even if it meant being outside, far away from him.

Michelle tested positive for coronavirus at the end of June and David had initially tested negative.

But as she recovered, David began developing symptoms and on July 1 tested positive.

Sadly his condition deteriorated and a week later he was hospitalised before his oxygen levels dropped and he was put on a ventilator 10 days later.

"I love you and see you later" were the final words Michelle heard from her husband on July 18 before he was put on the ventilator.

Before David was put on a ventilator, the couple would text and FaceTime frequently.

And as David became more frail, Michelle would do all the talking while her husband just listened.

To keep up the tradition, despite David being in a coma, Michelle continues to write several letters to him each day.

She faxes them over to the hospital and asks the nurses to read them aloud to him, keeping faith that he can hear her words.

"He's going to have a lot of reading to do when he wakes up," she said.

"I text him in between the letters so he will maybe have days of reading to catch up on."

Michelle continues to have faith her husband will recover and his health will be restored.
