March 23--A Wisconsin man has been charged in the fatal stabbing of his estranged wife while the two visited a patient at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village over the weekend, authorities said.
Javier Bahena, 43, has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Francisca Quintero, 42, of Burlington, Wis., according to the Cook County state's attorney's office.
Bahena is scheduled to appear for a bond hearing at 1:30 p.m. in the Rolling Meadows courthouse.
Bahena and Quintero were in a room at Alexian Brothers to visit another family member when Bahena attacked Quintero around 11:30 a.m. Sunday, authorities said.
Quintero was pronounced dead at 1:10 p.m. Sunday at the hospital, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday.
The hospital was not placed on lockdown after the stabbing, according to Elk Grove Village Deputy Police Chief Chuck Walsh.
"We're trying to figure out what the domestic was involving or about," Walsh said. "Two family members got into it and this is the tragic result of it."
