
A 48-year-old woman was critically wounded Sunday after she was stabbed multiple times in Fernwood on the South Side.
About 10 a.m., officers were called to the 9900 block of South Normal Avenue following reports of a person stabbed and found a 48-year-old woman lying on the sidewalk, Chicago police said. A 20-year-old man seen running from the woman into a nearby home and then taken into custody.
Witnesses told police the woman and the 20-year-old man were having a discussion when he became enraged and attacked her, stabbing her multiple times in the head and neck with a sharp object, police said.
The woman was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition, police said. The man was taken to Roseland Hospital for treatment for lacerations.
Charges against the 20-year-old man are pending, police said. Area South detectives are investigating.
